WILSON GENEALOGY
The following information was taken out of a Wilson book wrote in the late 40's
I have noticed a few things that I question I have added the things in ( ).

John McGrew was born near Cincinnati, Ohio (census say that he was born in KY)in 1801,
came to Fulton Co., Illinois in 1837 and to Iowa in 1856. In 1824 he married Hannah
Brewster Hubbard who was born in York State in 1800. In 1856 the two came to New Town,
now a cornfield one and a half miles south of Avoca, Iowa. John ran the only
grocery store in New Town. The post office was in the store and he was the post
master. On Sunday he " rode the circuit" preaching the gospel, as an itinerating
minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church. His license to preach is dated 1839.
He died in 1862 at the home of his son Kearby, probably of pleurisy, tho doctors
in nearby Lewis did not know. He is buried in Old Reno Cemetery, in Edna Tp. Cass
Co., Iowa. Hannah accompanied her son Kearby and family when they moved from Cass
Co., Iowa to Mills Co. Iowa in 1864. She died in 1865 at the age of 65 and is
buried in the center of Malvern, Iowa cemetery, known at that time as the White
Cloud Cemetery.

There is no definite knowledge of the size of John and Hannah family.
There is tradition that there were twins, that one or two died in infancy,
that there was a small pox epidemic. For a certainty they were married in 1824,
their oldest child Kearby Born the next year.
